Warner Announces Nearly $1.6 Million in Local Grants

HARRISBURG – Nearly $1.6 million in state grants have been awarded for a variety of municipal equipment, infrastructure and recreation projects in the 52nd Legislation District, said Rep. Ryan Warner (R-Fayette).
“These are important investments that allow our local governments to better meet the needs of their residents without increasing the tax burden on them,” Warner said. “I was pleased to advocate for these projects.”
The following municipal grants were awarded through the statewide Local Share Account program, which is funded through state gaming revenues:
• Brownsville Township – $286,819 for the purchase of a street sweeper.
• Bullskin Township – $72,030 for the purchase of a truck for hauling and related purposes.
• Bullskin Township-Connellsville Township Joint Sewer Authority – $38,616 for rehabilitation of eight deteriorating manholes.
• Connellsville City – $131,641 for improvements to municipal technology equipment across three city buildings.
• Connellsville Township – $82,700 for replacement of a culvert where River Hill Road crosses Laurel Run.
• Dunbar Borough Township Sanitary Authority – $71,407 for the purchase and installation of infiltration and odor control equipment.
• Dunbar Township – $150,000 for the purchase of a wheel loader for maintenance purposes.
• Franklin Township – $88,618 for the purchase of a truck equipped with a plow and spreader.
• North Fayette County Municipal Authority – $45,472 to purchase a tractor with uplifts to maintain grass around water storage tanks and clear rights-of-way for water transmission.
• Perry Township – $187,513, on behalf of the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department, for construction of a building addition to house vehicles and emergency equipment.
• Perryopolis Borough – $96,437 for a stormwater restoration project.
• Redstone Township Sewer Authority – $55,124 for wastewater treatment plant upgrades.
• Stewart Township – $100,000 to repave King Road.
• Washington Township – $170,000 for the purchase of a wheel loader for road repair and emergency response.
Also, Luzerne Township was awarded $65,000 for improvements to Patsy Hillman Park through the Greenways, Trails and Recreation program, which is supported by natural gas impact fees.
The funding was approved Thursday by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
